TUSTIN RANCH GOLF CLUB (714-730-1611)
Orange County/Los Angeles, California golf course review
Tustin Ranch, located 10 miles from Anaheim (just 10 minutes south of Disneyland and 20 minutes from Newport Beach), is a beautiful Ted Robinson designed championship layout that has been a popular Southern California destination course since its inception in 1989. This par 72, 6800 yard design features consistently wonderful conditioning from tee to green, and has been awarded with 4 stars (out of 5) by Golf Digest Places to Play.
The property is nestled into the base of majestic hillsides and is surrounded by towering palms, with cascading waterfalls and sparkling lakes adding to the allure and beauty. The palm trees form a tropical backdrop behind each of the green complexes, which feature medium size, mildly undulating putting surfaces. The fairways are tree lined but generally have ample landing zones. Many holes begin from elevated tees, play to valley fairways then finish with raised greens.
Readers of the orange County Register have consistently ranked this course as one of the best Orange County golf courses and this year were voted the Number One Golf Course in Orange County. A private caddie service - unique to the area, is available. On property is a clubhouse with pro shop plus restaurant/lounge serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Banquet facilities can accommodate up to 240 people for outings and special events. There also are locker rooms for men and women(showers in men's locker room).
Practice facilities include a targeted driving range, short game area plus putting green. Tustin Ranch was Voted #1 Golf Course & Driving Range in Orange County by the Readers of the Orange County Register for 2007. Tustin Ranch has an award winning Golf School with 6 PGA Instructors - SCPGA Teachers and Club Fitters of the Year.
All carts are equipped with ball & club washers and Informer GPS, which provides accurate information from tee to pin. 100, 150 and 200 yard markers and sprinkler heads that are measured to the center of the green are also posted on all par fours and fives, and color coded flags indicate the day's front, middle or back hole locations.
Sand is a strong feature as 77 bunkers of varying shapes and sizes are situated near the landing zones or greenside. There also are some beautiful water hazards with forced carries highlighting approaches on several holes - including a tee shot to a beautiful island green complex on number eleven. Four sets of tees play to distances and slopes measuring 6803 yards/134 slope, 6446 yards/129 slope, 6064 yard/123 slope for men and 142 for women, and 5263 yards with a slope of 132 for ladies hitting from the forward tees.
The hybrid Bermuda fairways and poa greens were in great shape during visit. This is a wonderful golf facility with friendly and efficient service. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
