Hidden Valley Golf Club in Norco in Riverside County, is a Casey O'Callaghan championship design that has been awarded 4 stars by golf Digest Places to Play. This distinctive layout provides a nice variety of golf holes featuring remarkable elevation changes and majestic views over a very rolling terrain. Its central location, consistent playing conditions and friendly service have made this a favorite of locals and visitors alike.
Memorable features include boulder rock outcroppings and dry stream beds that add challenge and aesthetic beauty. From the back tees, avid golfers will encounter numerous carries off the tee over ravines and canyons, while those choosing the front sets will find that most of the hazards are very negotiable. Three holes have water in play, and there are approximately 60 soft sand bunkers situated along the fairways or near the undulating green complexes.
There are 5 sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 6721 yards/145 slope, 6330 yards/137 slope, 5826 yards/130 slope, 5330 yards/124 slope and 4698 yards with a slope of 116 from the forward tees. As these slopes indicate - this design is quite challenging from the three back tees, yet quite manageable from the two forward tees. Yardage markers are situated on the fairways and cart paths at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green on all par fours and fives. Color coded flags indicate the day's front, middle or back hole locations.
On property is a 15,000 square foot clubhouse with pro shop, Split Rock Grill (open for breakfast and lunch), plus outing and event capacities that can accommodate up to 200 guests. The picture windows in the clubhouse present great views of the course and surrounding hillsides. A multi-tiered grass range compliments a putting green and short game area to provide comprehensive practice facilities, with a variety of lessons from a staff of PGA professionals available from dawn to dusk.
This is an incredibly beautiful and challenging golf course, with many tee boxes layered into the hillsides, and rugged mountains forming the backdrops. The terrain is extremely hilly and golfers will encounter quite a few "target" golf shots. Sloping fairways and well protected green complexes add to the challenge.
