WESTRIDGE GOLF CLUB (562-690-4200)
Orange County/Los Angeles, California golf course review
Westridge Golf Club is recognized as one of Orange County's most distinctive venues for golf outings and special events. This D Pascuzzo/R M Graves championship design has been awarded 3 ½ stars by Golf Digest Places to Play, and is known as a shot-makers course and very good value course for the region.
First class amenities and an excellent staff provide a high level of service, making this one of the most popular options for outings in the area. A full service practice facility includes a lighted grass driving range (covered stations with mats), with teaching facilities that offer a wide range of lessons and programs. The clubhouse includes a pro shop plus restaurant/lounge, with a well appointed banquet/special event facility that can accommodate up to 288 people.
Four sets of tee boxes allow golfers to choose from sets that play to distances and slopes measuring 6561 yards/135 slope, 6246 yards/132 slope, 5875 yards/128 slope for men and 139 for women, and 5204 yards with a slope of 125 for women hitting from the red tees. On course yardage markers are posted on cart paths and fairways of all par fours and fives at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green.
Color coded flags indicate front, middle and back hole locations on the medium size undulating green complexes. There are 58 soft sand bunkers located near the landing zones or greenside, and moguls and swales also help to create some difficult up and down situations. Most of the fairways are undulating with perimeter mounding often creating a bowl effect. The course winds up and down the hillsides with mild elevation changes from tee to green.
The beautiful par three 3rd begins from an extremely elevated tee box (from the tips) that is perched on the side of a hill, and looks down towards the valley with outstanding views of the surrounding countryside. Our two favorite holes on the back side feature water hazards greenside that create the need for accurate approaches.
There is a residential community nearby, but no homes are situated adjacent to the course. Rates here including cart top out in the high fifty's on weekdays, and low eighties on weekends. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
